My history with Kawaleria started in 2004 but to tell the truth I always desired to open a restaurant since I can recall. Initially it was supposed to be a little cafeteria with coffee and cakes… However, my dreams turned out to be so strong that quite a restaurant came into being. Its image is first and foremost the reflection of my life. The compilation of family traditions – my great-grandfather was commandant of the Cavalier School (Szkoła Kawalerii) in Grudziądz in the twenties, with personal passions. I grew up in an atmosphere of old customs, hence the eagerness to create a place where the years of splendour of the Cavalier (Kawaleria) would return once again. Of course, as befits Kawaleria, together with our Chef Grzegorz Godzik we propose Polish cuisine, yet it is not Old Polish cuisine. The name of the restaurant itself Kawaleria – Szarża Smaku (Cavalier – Charge of Flavour) obligates us to constantly seek for new flavours, combine traditions of noble manors with modern trends. We all know that cavaliermen were famous for their passion for good food and original liquors, which has become our leitmotif. We wish that the richness of flavours, even in the most simple dishes, will please all our guests.
